Your new role
Tech Valleys is a £100 million, ten-year programme by the Welsh Government, focusing on the area of Blaenau Gwent in South Wales. Building on the region's longstanding manufacturing heritage, Tech Valleys aims to capitalise on the opportunities arising from the fourth industrial revolution - particularly in the areas of 5G, battery technology, digital and cyber research and application - supporting high value, sustainable jobs, attracting investment and creating opportunities for the region. In line with our Economic Action Plan, the Tech Valleys programme has the principles of growth, fair work and decarbonisation at its heart.

We are seeking outline business case proposals that support the Tech Valleys strategic approach. We anticipate that Tech Valleys projects will fall under the following themes and sectors:

1. Advancing future skills: Championing the development of 'tech' and engineering skills in education and business, including building links across all academic levels and enabling entrepreneurs to grow business skills; 2. Enhancing business productivity: Intelligent automation and adoption of digital technologies to help businesses grow and become more resilient;
3. Physical and digital infrastructure: Projects that will benefit the region as a whole including decarbonisation and supporting the objectives of enabling better jobs closer to home;
4. Developing high value advanced technologies that support cutting edge industries: Including research and development, creating IP and scaling ideas to marketable products; and
5. Promoting jobs and encouraging inward investment: Showcasing success and facilitating inward investment opportunities.
