Job Details

Your new company
My client is a leading multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. They provide a range of consultancy services that include building & quantity surveying, project management, architecture & master planning, civil & structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, and health & safety.

As a Senior Employers Agent, you will part of a team working on various social housing framework contracts, managing mainly new build projects across London, Kent and the South East. The work has been won and guaranteed for 3 years, which means if no other work was won, then you would still be busy enough to carry on with your role. The projects vary from large scale developments of phased builds of 5,000 +, through to smaller developments of 50 units - but all with their challenges and opportunities.

You will be working in a team of 7, where you will report into a Partner and be in effect the 2nd in command with a team of 3 more Senior EA's/Surveyors and 2 assistants. At the moment, they are complying with current government guidelines to WFH, but when the restrictions are relaxed, there will be a mix of WFH and working in the office which is currently led by the employee, the Partner managing the division has no desire to change that. They also have other office locations that if you wanted to work out of on any given day, would be allowed. They have a larger multidisciplined teams that span across engineering, architecture, and surveying, which means there is a lot of knowledge and support from the business to draw on. This allows for a more collaborative approach to projects and a full overview of all that is going on within them, opposed to relying on other consultants for information.

Your new role
In the role of the Senior Employers Agent you will be tasked and measured in the following; deliver a full range of Employer's Agent / Project Management / Client Representative roles, an active communicator focussed on project completion to time, cost and quality, liaising with clients in respect of technical matters, programme and alternative procurement methods, taking full responsibility for technical, contract and cost matters for projects within your control, risk analysis and risk management of individual projects, managing site and project meetings effectively and ensuring actions arising are completed, review and constructively comment on design drawings for all types of new build property, understanding your projects fee structure and working within targets.

What you'll need to succeed
Outside of the normal qualifications to do this role of having a Building Surveying degree or certificate, and ideally being MIRCS, the client has stipulated the key measure for this role will be the ability to deliver a project from tender award through to completion. You will have strong contractual knowledge and be competent in managing new build projects through all its phases after preconstruction, have the ability to liaise with all stakeholders both internal and external, foreseeing any issues and eliminating them before they occur. Have the confidence and knowledge to assertively discuss with contractors and clients the elements of the projects that aren't going to plan or need more attention from either a cost or technical point of view.

What you'll get in return
As part of the package for this role, you can expect a salary of up to £65k along with a 25 days holiday + bank holidays which goes up to 30 after time served, reimbursement for APC and professional examination costs, professional fees paid for, pension options and life assurance. This role has also been approved as part of a 3 year business plan, including salary and increments as well as team growth, so this is not a short term project driven position, it is part of a strategic plan to build the team.
