I'm delighted to be working again with a well-established main contractor specialising in the design and build of commercial and retail projects for several household names across the UK. As part of their strategy of deliberate, controlled growth, they are actively seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to their close-knit commercial team based from their regional offices in the Plymouth area.

Your new role
With support and direction from a capable and approachable Commercial Manager, your new role will involve the accurate administration and management of a number of projects of up to £5m in value, with duties including:

* maximising the profitability of contracts in an ethical manner
* optimising cashflow on projects under your control
* ensuring all contract documentation is complete
* negotiating with and procuring subcontractors
* producing valuations and variations
* managing contracts through to final account
* maintaining company health and safety standards and procedures

What you'll need to succeed

Criteria for this exciting opportunity are a relevant tertiary qualification, proven experience commercially managing multimillion pound contracts successfully, strong communication skills and a real desire to provide your customers with the highest possible levels of experience and satisfaction, with a view to securing repeat business. You'll also need to be willing to travel as the company works for its customers across England, meaning occasional visits to site.
