Your new company
My client is an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors providing surveying, design, planning consultancy and valuation services, across Kent, Sussex and Surrey. They work with local authorities, landowners, developers, and private residential clients on a range of projects from small bespoke packages to larger residential developments, which can sometimes include heritage, conservation and listed building works.

As part of their growth plans, they are now looking to bring a Building Surveyor on to work within their design and planning team and add value to the business by bringing a technical understanding from a surveying point of view. This will allow the Director to work with the MD to achieve more of the strategic plans to grow and develop the business, which in time, will allow the Surveyor to grow and develop the team.

The business is small but busy practice, so it's of great importance that they recruit the right people that fit within the team and the environment in which they work. They currently operate a working practice of one week in the office and one week from home so that there is a blend and work life balance. They also operate from within a working farm, owned by the MD and Partner, so there is livestock within the grounds and 2 dogs that will access the offices - so the successful candidate will need to be OK with sharing their environment.

Your new role
In the role of Building Surveyor you will be tasked and measured in the following; preparing tender documentation comprising schedule of work, producing CAD drawings/plans, overseeing tender procedures and evaluation of tenders, managing contracts and controlling expenditure within budget and time, carry out the duties of Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015, undertake Building and Condition Surveys, carry out inspections of construction work, write specifications of work, carry out the duties of Contract Administrator.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have the following; H&S legislation and CDM Regulations, experience in Management of Small to Medium sized projects, identifying building defects and preparing specifications, working knowledge of IT systems and software such as MS Project, Office, and CADDIE. You will also need to hold as least Assoc RICS status and hold a driving licence and have access to a car.

What you'll get in return
In return, you can expect a salary of up to £40k along with 25 days holiday + bank holidays, which increases after 2 years' service by 1 day per year. A pension scheme, access to a therapist for both personal and family uses, company away days in the summer and winter months (when permitted), a bonus scheme based individual targets. Professional fees and CPD is paid for.
