Your new role
As a Principal Building Surveyor you will lead the property and facilities team at East Devon District Council, a team which is tasked with providing a comprehensive property service to all council owned public buildings and land. You will manage a portfolio of buildings ensuring that all work is carried out in an efficient manner, setting the performance specifications and standards, and ensuring works meet budget and compliance standards. Your role will involve the development of policies and procedures that improve and manage compliance and support the council's activities across the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance and delivery of small capital projects. Your role will be varied, alongside carrying out team leadership responsibilities you will assist with the delivery of capital projects, oversee day to day reactive maintenance, assist with the delivery of PPM and oversee health & safety and compliance.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this position, you will need to have prior experience in a Building Surveying role working on the client-side, either in the public or private sector. You will need to be able to demonstrate a broad building surveying skill-set which has involved overseeing a wide range of property maintenance areas as well as delivery of projects, and you'll need to have had some prior team leadership responsibility. You should hold a degree or HNC in Building Surveying or an equivalent / similar qualification.
