Project Manager, 12+ month contract, Rate up to £32.94 per hour via Umbrella

We're pleased to be partnering with an NHS organisation in the East of England to recruit 2 new Project Managers into their Projects team. This will be a temporary contract that is expected to last for 12 months though there is scope for this position to convert to permanent if the temporary placement goes well. You'll be joining a multi-disciplined Estates team that deliver a range of maintenance and project services. Reporting into he Director of Capital Projects, you'll work alongside 4 other staff to deliver a range of projects across the organisation from inception to completion.
Your new role
As a Project Manager you'll be managing a range of new build and refurbishment projects, with a particular focus on a major project to diagnose and replace their RAAC roof. This client is a new roof replacing outdated concrete plank RAAC construction, a new diagnostic centres, a new ward space, temporary ward accommodation and range of other projects ranging in value from £100k-£11m.
As part of this role you'll be working with the space planning teams to ensure that space is utilised effectively, carrying out measured surveys and potentially helping with preparing/updating drawings. You'll attend meetings/briefings with the client as well as any specialist external consultants or contractors.
You'll assist the team in the preparation of construction drawings for local authority submissions and for tender invitations, as well as managing all other project related documentation. The Project Manager will be reviewing tenders received, procuring services, preparing contract documents and managing contracts as required. You'll be supporting the team to ensure that works progress along with contract requirements, schedule and budgets. It will be essential that you ensure compliance with all statutory, professional and local safety requirements within capital schemes. You will carry out feasibility studies, option appraisals and surveys as and when required, appointing external consultants as required. What you'll need to succeed
The Project Manager will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent and have professional membership or association. You'll have a strong technical knowledge of construction and refurbishment works as well as contract administration and the managing of these projects. You'll be detail oriented and will be able to create very tight specifications, project plans and budgets to ensure that there aren't delays or increases in project cost. You'll be a clear communicator and will be proficient in the use MS Excel, a working knowledge of CAD systems will be highly beneficial. Working knowledge of health & safety, CDM and building regulations will be important.

The team operate a flexible work policy where occasional home working may be an option, though you will need to be on the site most of the week. This is a varied role with a diverse range or projects and customers, this is not a static role, so you'll need to get out across the site to ensure projects progress as planned. You'll receive a rate of up to £32.94 per hour via an Umbrella company and a temporary contract which is expected to last between 6 and 12 months. The organisation is looking to hire permanently as well so there may be scope, if all goes well, for this role to become permanent.
