As part of their commitment to supporting communities and improving lives, they have reviewed how services are delivered, creating a new Executive Team within the organisation. As Executive Head of Environment, you will be part of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for a range of high-profile services, specifically Biodiversity, Sustainability, Environmental Nuisance, Environmental Licensing, Food Safety, Primary Authority, Climate Change, Sustainable Transport, Land Management and Arboriculture.
You will lead on the Council's Environment strategic theme, ensuring it is closely aligned to the Corporate Plan. You will set clear goals, working with team managers in ensuring that services deliver on their priorities and that the best possible service is delivered to residents, businesses and visitors. With a strong emphasis on teamwork you will work directly with Cabinet Members and the Strategy team to develop strategy for the Environment areas, supported by Corporate Management Board, and the Resource Manager, in ensuring the Council delivers on its priorities. You will work with a strong, dynamic and diverse Executive Leadership Team to develop a clear alignment between strategy and delivery.
You will have significant experience of leading an environment function (Environmental Health/Sustainability/Climate Change etc) and have a relevant professional qualification (for example, CIEH, CIEEM etc). Experience of overseeing development of commercial initiatives or leading organisational initiatives is desirable.
You will be required to lead and develop managers and demonstrate an ability to persuade others at all levels of the organisations. Strong IT and communications skills are a must, as is a strong customer focus.
