Hays are working with a national builder that works with private developers, housing associations and local authorities to deliver residential developments that are considerate of communities, the environment and local businesses. As a result of the successful delivery of their long-term growth model in the south-west, they have a requirement for an experienced quantity surveyor to join their commercial team in Devon.
Your new role
Based from the Exeter offices, you'll be an important member of an established team with responsibility for the tight commercial management of both speculative and housing association new build developments across the south-west of England.
Duties will include:
- optimising profitability on those contracts under your control.
- ensuring all contract documentation maintained correctly
- negotiation and procurement of subcontractors
- pricing and agreeing variations
- checking and issuing of subcontractor payments in a timely manner
- adopting a proactive approach to avoid potential disputes with clients and subcontractors/ suppliers
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in quantity surveying and have previous experience working at an equivalent level on multimillion pound commercial or residential projects. You'll need to be able to demonstrate strong account management abilities, be comfortable working either in an office or on-site environment and have professional membership of MCIOB or RICS, or be working towards qualification.
