Property Manager (Diocesan Surveyor)

The Diocese of Bath & Wells is seeking to make the appointment of a Property Manager (Diocesan Surveyor) to its Property Services Team.

Extending across Somerset and North Devon including Bath, Wells, Exmoor, Taunton, Yeovil, Bridgwater and surrounding areas, the Diocese of Bath & Wells operates across 477 parishes. The Diocese incorporates a portfolio of over 3,000 acres of glebe land and more than 300 buildings including an investment portfolio (residential and commercial) and operational residential assets.

The Property Manager is responsible for over 250 occupied and let residential assets. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that all operational houses, are managed effectively on behalf of occupiers in addition to maximising the missional and financial return and to inspect and schedule repair of clergy housing on a rotational five year basis (the Quinquennial surveys)

The Diocese's residential portfolio is divided into two key areas: homes of the clergy and privately let assets:

•Operational housing – circa 250 homes occupied by members of the clergy. Ensuring quinquennial inspections, planned and reactive maintenance, fit out and management of housing stock to ensure a high level of service to occupiers. 

•Let residential portfolio – circa 20 properties generating a gross income of £0.5m

Reporting to the Head of Property & Glebe Land, you will be an experienced housing professional, possessing strong contractor management skills to ensure effective service delivery and value for money. A highly customer focussed outlook is vital to success in the role, owing to regular and continued liaison with members of the clergy as a key interface of the Diocese.

The appointee will have Facilities Management responsibility for the Diocese’s Head Office - Flourish House, Wells.

It is required that the holder of the position will be RICS, MCIOB qualified or hold an equivalent professional qualification and will undertake the role of Diocesan Surveyor the role of Diocesan Surveyor which is a statutory appointment in the Diocese arising from the Repairs of Benefice Buildings Measure
