M&E Design Engineer, 12 month contract covering Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, Rate up to £375 per day

Your new company
We're pleased to be supporting one of our clients to recruit up to 4 M&E Design Engineers for a 12 month contract across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. You'll be supporting one of the client's project teams to survey a number of publicly owned buildings across the region and propose designs to reduce the carbon impact of the pubic sector estate.

Your new role
As an M&E Design Engineer you'll be tasked with carrying out M&E Asset and Condition surveys on public sector owned buildings across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. You'll be responsible for a portfolio of projects and will be scheduling surveys across on properties across the region. As the M&E Design Engineer, you'll make a detailed report of the property's mechanical and electrical condition and feed back into the clients asset management system.

The next steps will be for you take this detailed survey information and carry out a feasibility study on these properties in respect of any potential energy improvements and/or efficiency savings that might be possible. Examples might be moving from gas fired heating to a ground or air source heat pump. You may be required to carry out thermal modelling on the building using IES as well. You'll then come up with a proposed technical design, create any necessary pre-works materials and prepare the scheme to move forward.

What you'll need to succeed
As an M&E Design Engineer you'll be appropriately qualified in a mechanical or electrical related discipline and have demonstrable experience of working in an M&E design setting. You'll have experience of carrying out M&E asset surveys, condition surveys, feasibility reports and M&E designs on public sector owned or commercial properties. An ability to work to tight deadlines, to work under your own direction and to manage your own time and appointments will be critical. A knowledge of energy efficiency issues and potential methods to reduce carbon intensity will also be highly beneficial for this contract.

What you'll get in return
This is a contract that we expect to last for up to 12 months. This post will be for 37.5 hours a week from 9am - 5pm. Due to the nature of this role you will a full driving license and need access to a car with the relevant business insurances in order to travel across the region and carry out these surveys, reports and designs.
