Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Legal Disrepair Team Leader - Up to £60k
Your new company
Hays Property & Surveying London are delighted to announce that they have been exclusively appointed by The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to recruit for a key appointment within the Housing Repairs team. This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents. This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.
A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.
In response to London's affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. Our housing team also work closely with affordable housing providers and other agencies to manage homelessness and give support to older residents to live independently.
Your new role
As the Legal Disrepair Team Leader, you will manage a team of 6 Legal Disrepair Surveyors and report into the Quality Assurance Manager. The team's primary function is to provide essential technical support to the Repairs Service and Property Services across the Borough. As the Team Manager you will play a key role in delivering solid leadership to a highly technical team that operate under demanding performance standards, maintaining close control over budgets & close oversight of the health and safety of officers working in resident's homes. You will be expected to balance workload and prioritise cases according to the needs of the business and residents.
As well as team leadership capabilities this role will require senior stakeholder engagement where excellent influencing skills will be paramount to your success in this role.
In addition to the core duties of the role, there is a need to co-operate closely with other departments in the council to provide a joined-up service to our residents. The effective management of complaints and casework is crucial to guarantee the high performance of the service and the provision of advice to colleagues across housing management.
What you'll need to succeed
You will hold exceptional leadership capabilities, with a strong prior track record of managing technical surveying teams. Ideally you will have hands on Legal Disrepair experience but substantial experience in housing and repairs will be essential.
What you'll get in return
A competitive salary with local authority pension and generous holiday package.
