Capital Programme Manager, 12+ month contract, Norfolk, Rate up to £30 per hour

Your new company
We're pleased to be partnering with an NHS organisation in the East of England to recruit 2 new staff into their team. This will be a temporary contract that is expected to last for 12 months though there is scope for this position to convert to permanent if the temporary placement goes well. You'll be joining a multi-disciplined Estates team that deliver a range of maintenance and project services. Reporting into the Head of Estates, you'll work alongside 4 other staff to deliver a range of projects across the organisation from inception to completion.

Your new role
As a Capital Programme Manager you'll be managing a range of new build and refurbishment projects, with a particular focus on a new build health campus. This health campus will combine a new hospital, GP services and mental health care provision. it is expected that this will be an 8 year project, with 4 years in design and planning phase, and 4 in build.

As part of this role you'll responsible for providing technical advice, guidance and support to the project teams. You will produce work schemes using your professional technical knowledge and practical experience, establishing project requirements from service users and preparing specifications. You'll be capable of planning and organising complex schemes to include multiple projects against a demanding and often conflicting time scale.

As Capital Programme Manager you may be required to give input at design stages, you might need to utilise the team to carry out surveys as well as manage project documentation. You will need to manage selected external consultants and contractors and carry out the appropriate Risk Assessments and Method Statements.


What you'll need to succeed
As the Capital Programme Manager you'll have managed large capital and/or construction projects from brief to completion. You'll be a competent communicator, able to liaise at all levels and have excellent report writing and presentation skills. You will be able to manage complex construction related matters, have a detailed knowledge of construction and any relevant health and safety legislation. Demonstrable experience of manage large project budgets and working to challenging timescales will be essential.

Specialist knowledge of Work and Building Legislation and assist in developing Technical Specifications in line with all relevant standards and systems to include but not limited to HTM/HBN, British standards, Health & Safety at Work etc. will be important.

You'll be joining a friendly and supportive team that have worked tirelessly through the current pandemic. The team operate a flexible work policy where occasional home working may be an option, though you will need to be on the site for a significant part of the week. This is a varied role with a diverse range or projects and customers, this is not a static role, so you'll need to get out across the site to ensure projects progress as planned. You'll receive a rate of up to £30 per hour and a contract which is expected to last for more than 12 months. The organisation is looking to hire permanently as well so there will be scope, if all goes well, for this role to become permanent. The project itself is expected to last for 8 years and will be a landmark project for the area.
