Job Details

Youth and family support worker. £22 per hour. Immediate start for Haringey Council

Location: Haringey
Contract: 3 month contract (potential to be extended)
Payrate: £22 per hour (Basic £19.12 + 34 AL days)
Start Date: As soon as possible Rota: Full time, Monday to Friday. Morning shift: 9am-5pm (flexible) Late shift: 2.30pm - 8.30pm (Maximum of 3 late shifts per week)
Closing date: 24th September 2020

I am seeking experienced individuals who have recent working experience and knowledge of supporting families with children and young people

Your role:

  • Working with children / young people and their families, undertaking family work, group work, completing observations and completing clear accurate record logs.
  • Assessing the lived experience of the child / young person and their family and assessing their needs to promote effective change.
  • Facilitating and delivering support programmes to targeted families.
  • Promoting resettlement into employment or education
  • Case management, including reporting and recording and liaising with other agencies, colleagues and line managers where appropriate.
  • Visiting young people at prison and preventing them from re-offending
  • Supporting families subject to Child Protection and Court Proceedings
  • Identifying innovative ways to engage with families.



Desirable qualities:

  • Degree in Youth work or a related field
  • Understanding of the London Child Protection Procedures, The Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families 2000, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and the statutory process.
  • Experience developing risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, working with complex families who have suffered trauma, providing education workshops to develop families knowledge around parenting.
  • Good IT and organisational skills
