Head of Estate Projects

The University has an incredibly diverse and large scale (660,000sqm GIA excluding College estate) estate portfolio and has recently embarked on an estate development programme that will see capital investment range from £100m-£180m annually over the next 5 years.
The University is seeking to make the appointment to the post of Head of Estate Projects to lead the delivery of the estate development programme. Reporting to the Director of Estates the Head of Estate Projects will lead an internal project management team responsible for procuring and managing a diverse spectrum of projects varying from small and medium scale refurbishments to large scale redevelopments and new build schemes valued up to and in excess of £100m. The programme will be delivered across an incredibly diverse estate portfolio including listed buildings, state of the art research facilities, teaching space, recreational facilities, office space and residential accommodation.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of project and programme management within the property and construction industry, having gained experience of leading teams in the delivery of large scale and technically complex estate development programmes. Given the diverse and technically complex nature of the University of Cambridge estate, it would be advantageous if prospective candidates have gained experience of project and programme delivery in sectors such as education, healthcare, science and commercial.
In this key senior and influential post, it is essential that the role-holder possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to operate successfully with a diverse variety of internal and external stakeholders. Strong leadership skills are vitally important as the role holder will lead and inspire an internal team of project management professionals as well as external teams.
