Head of Property Development

Are you an experienced building surveyor? Do you have experience of managing and delivering ongoing new shop expansion plans?

If so we’d like to hear from you.

About the role

As Head of Property Development you'll look after the full range of building surveying services relating to the development and maintenance of the leasehold retail estate here at the BHF. You’ll ensure that these services are managed and delivered to the standard of excellence we expect.

You’ll be responsible for the budget of more than £10m to maintain the retail shop and stores estate of over 750 locations and all of our retail offices.

As a member of the Retail Leadership Group, you’ll be involved in shaping and implementation of key strategies within BHF.

You’ll also build and directly manage the building and maintenance team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and ensuring all safety and professional working standards and practices are adhered to.

Managing relationships with key contractors to ensure they provide a compliant and efficient service will also fall under your remit.

About you

With a professional building / construction management qualification (MRICS, MCIOB) and sound technical knowledge of all legislation relating to the fit out and occupation of leasehold retail premises, you’ll have extensive experience of all key aspects of traditional building surveying disciplines including:

  • Acquisition surveys
  • Defect analysis
  • Building pathology
  • Dilapidations
  • Fit out design
  • Contract administration.

You’ll have proven experience in the management and delivery of ongoing new shop expansion plans and you’ll also need to have:

  • Experience of managing and delivering significant and complex budgets
  • Highly effective leadership skills
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Resilience, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and able to handle high levels of pressure
  • Strong decision-making skills that are analytical, commercial and pragmatic
  • Good levels of computer literacy with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and AutoCAD LT.

In return we offer a variety of generous benefits including 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), healthcare and dental plans, subsidised gym membership. We also enthusiastically support flexible working and positive, active lifestyles with activities from softball, yoga, bake-offs and many more.
