Deputy Head of Property
Do you have a track record of property management and development, as well as lease/finance negotiations?
We are seeking a Deputy Head of Property to lead on the implementation of the capital projects programme to deliver the agreed growth strategy for Commercial Property.
The post holder will work with the commercial property and development teams, as well as with procurement, operations, finance, business development and government stakeholders. They will be supported by a team of external professional advisors to secure private sector investment, and the delivery of other property related professional services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the project, to plan the mobilisation of commercial development including budget monitoring and reporting to the Project Board.
- Management of the team of professional advisors appointed to support the planning and delivery of a significant programme of investment and development.
- Defining client needs and implementing the delivery strategy including negotiation of commercial and leasing arrangements.
- Evaluation of development plans, taking into consideration a range of legal, social, financial and environmental factors.
- Working closely with the construction delivery team to ensure all stakeholder needs are met.
The post holder will also lead on establishing the commercial arrangements for development projects at locations elsewhere in the UK. This will require the postholder to work with stakeholders across UKAEA in line with the core mission and stated objectives.
The UKAEA Property Unit comprises a team of about 30 staff which manage the Culham Science Centre estate, its buildings, services, commercial property and development portfolio.

Knowledge skills and experience
Essential
- RICS Qualified (Chartered Surveyor / Development Surveyor / MRICS)
- Track record of commercial development, property management and lease/finance negotiations
- Collaborative working style proactive, can-do team player who enjoys managing teams.
Desirable
- Educated to degree level (preferably graduate level knowledge of surveying)
- Demonstrable understanding of the challenges facing property development in the public sector
- Relevant suitable experience managing a diverse property portfolio
- Strategic asset and estate management
