The University of York’s Directorate of Estates and Campus Services (DECS) is entering a period of significant development. Over the next 15-20 years DECS will transform the University campus into modern, innovative seat of learning and research, fit for the 21 century. With a newly defined campus masterplan, your role will be to assist in the deliver the University’s vision for the next generation of students, researchers and teachers.

The Role
You will support the Director of Estates Development in delivery of the Campus Masterplan/Development. Taking responsibility for the implementation of a portfolio of diverse refurbishment and new build projects including multimillion-pound major construction, engineering and related projects at the university. Key to the job is to ensure that the masterplan stays true to its vision and aims as the framework of development develops into a programme of projects.  You will ensure high standards are set for the sustainability, accessibility, design, look and feel of the campus.

Key requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with chartered membership of professional body such as: ARB, RICS, MRTPI or MICE
  • In-depth knowledge of overseeing major development projects (from £5m) and significant programmes of work (c. £200m+)
  • Detailed knowledge of Architecture and Design, including Landscape Architecture
  • Ability to develop and inspire effective and motivated multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior management including at Board level
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present strategic vision, objectives and operational detail to a variety of audiences.
