Energy and M&E Manager

Can you help us deliver excellent residential developments, by providing technical and commercial leadership on energy and M&E?

Notting Hill Genesis exists to provide good quality housing for those who otherwise couldn’t afford it. Our development pipeline is well established and we plan to build 20,000 new homes over 10 years. We create some of London’s most exciting mixed tenure developments, including both private and affordable residential tenures as well as non-residential uses. With projects ranging from large community regeneration schemes to small urban infill sites, we're hard at work.

We’re looking for Energy and M&E Manager who is as tenacious and commercially minded as us, and will be driven to positively influence the energy and M&E solutions for all of our development projects.

You will do this by supporting, guiding, and challenging our project managers, consultants and contractors, at all stages of the development process from feasibility to handover. Because of this, you will need to be a clear and confident communicator to build great relationships and influence decision-makers. You’ll be our trusted advisor, so excellent technical and commercial knowledge will be important to make your mark in this role.

We will rely on you to create and maintain design guidance and technical specification documents, and continually improve our contractual Employer’s Requirements. You will help to implement new construction quality regimes in order to ensure our specifications are delivered as intended. You will work with both Development and Asset Management colleagues to develop energy management strategies for heat networks and electric vehicle charging, and set up the necessary commercial and contractual arrangements – including leading on the procurement of ESCos to manage larger heat networks.

Our team drives positive change and the role will stretch you, as all of our properties vary and you will be exposed to a fast paced environment where you will be given the opportunity to continue to grow your knowledge and skills. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.

We’re open minded when thinking of hiring the right person. We’d welcome interest from candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds – you may have previously worked for a property developer, contractor, consultancy firm, engineering firm, energy solutions company, or housing association. See the role profile for details of the knowledge, experience and skills we’re looking for.

In return we offer a competitive salary, generous annual leave, health cash plan, season ticket loan, life assurance and a generous contributory pension offer as well as other benefits packages.

The salary band for this role is £55k-75k, and the current market median spot rate is £61,552. The starting salary we offer you will depend on your capability and level of applicable experience.

To apply for this role, upload your CV and supporting statement. Please note a supporting statement is not a cover letter.

Your statement must address the following questions:

  1. Why do you want to work in the residential development industry and why Notting Hill Genesis? (200 words max)
  2. What are your key skills, experience and traits that make you suitable for the Energy and M&E Manager role? (400 words max)
  3. Give an example of when you have implemented an initiative to improve the way things are done. (300 words max)

When answering these questions, you will need to address the behaviours and essential/desirable criteria listed on the role profile and provide examples of how you demonstrate these skills as well as your experience.

Closing date for applications is midday on Monday 19 August 2019.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview/assessment week commencing 2 September 2019

**Please note that should a redeployee apply for this role; their application will be considered before any others.**
