Interim Opportunity - Quantity Surveyor - Public Sector Organisation - South London - Negotiable hourly rate

Your new company
On behalf of a public sector organisation, Hays Property & Surveying are now looking for a Quantity Surveyor to sit in the Traded Services division, and report directly to the Commercial Manager.
This is a rolling 3 month interim contract.

Your new role
The main purpose of this role is to manage all costs relating to specific building projects.

From the initial calculations to the final figures, seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality, many of which are specified by statutory building regulations.

Some of your duties are:

* Sub contractor accounts
* Agreeing variations
* Monitoring budget
* Agreeing final accounts
* Submitting applications for payments
* Understanding of standard forms of contract

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful you'll need:

* Experience in a similar role, ideally gained in a local government setting,
* R&M Experience
* Degree educated, preferably in Quantity Surveying, or an accredited degree which meets the requirement of the professional bodies (RICS, CIOB)
* Experience of assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
* Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
* Performing risk and value management and cost control
* Advising on procurement strategy
* Preparing tender and contracts documents, including bills of quantities
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
* Allocating work to subcontractors
* Budget Monitoring
* Providing advice on contractual claims
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments
* Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, business and legal matters
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills
* The ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information easily to a diverse range of people
