Your new role
In this role you'll lead PMO for our Commercial Projects Portfolio, which defines and executes strategic, commercial and regulatory change across multiple divisions within our Energy Services, sponsored by Business Unit Directors. You'll monitor and analyse the performance of projects and programmes from inception to closure, ensuring the deliveries are tracked to time and budget, highlighting potential risks and issues to the Head of Portfolio. You'll identify, set and track KPI's and recommend improvement actions. You'll be accountable for the submission of consolidated progress reports into senior governance boards to agreed reporting timetables, and be prepared to field questions from Head of, Director and C-level stakeholders. Additionally, you'll have responsibility for the day-to-day management of a PMO team, their development and performance management, and their capacity management across all the portfolio projects and PMO disciplines. You'll support and coach Project/Programme Managers with all aspects of project and programme governance and controls, including planning and forecasting, risk and issue management, dependency management, change requests, financial control, resourcing, benefit management and reporting. You'll have the opportunity to shape the development of the PMO, working collaboratively with Project Managers and other Retail PMO Managers to develop and improve project management methods, systems, tools and techniques.


What you'll need to succeed
You'll have substantial experience working in a PMO / Project Planning / Project Controls environment and governing large, complex, high-profile projects and programmes, with an understanding of waterfall and agile delivery approaches. Your demonstrable knowledge of key PMO disciplines will include status reporting, budgeting and estimating, planning, dependency management, risk and issue management, quality gates, change management and benefits tracking.Your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will help you advise Portfolio Management and Directors and you'll be highly organised and thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment, working on complex topics for a senior audience. You'll be resourceful, with the ability to work autonomously with only high-level direction and adept at prioritising work to meet tight deadlines. You'll be well versed in Office 365 especially Excel, as well as project portfolio management (PPM) tools. You'll hold a suitable project delivery qualification such as APM, PMP or Prince 2 and it would be highly desirable to have a PMO Practitioner qualification. Knowledge of the energy industry or another regulated industry would be an advantage.
