Commercial Manager
Your new company
A leading national construction company, are looking for a Commercial Manager to head up the commercial function in a brand new arm of the business. This role is based from offices in Cheshire and will involve some travel across the North, however flexible and home based working is also accommodated in this companies' culture. Currently this business turns over £60m and is projecting further growth. This contractor is a market leader in site investigation, hazardous waste removal, groundworks, ground investigation, asbestos removal, drilling, water well drilling, and remediation. This business are a Tier 2 contractor for HS2, and also deliver work for house builders, engineers, contractors and Tier Ones. This is a hugely diverse business with plenty of scope for progression in this role.
Your new role
You will oversee the commercial team, driving forwards best practice commercially, and taking overall responsibility for risk and profit on each project delivered. You will participate in the identification and tracking of major and strategic project opportunities across the group. You will cascade the latest contractual guidance, best practice and implement methods of working to improve the business' efficiency, accuracy and profitability. This role reports into the the Divisional Commercial Director and other Group Directors with regard to the wider application of commercial and contracting services. Also, you will liaise with Regional/Managing Directors and the other Heads of discipline.
What you'll need to succeed
Typically, an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager already, from a civils/infrastructure/utilities background in contracting. Knowledge of NEC3 form of contract is essential. A detailed understanding of the standard forms of contract, methods of measurement and common specifications used for the civils sector is also ideal. The ability to advise on the most technically and economically appropriate solution on a project by project basis. You have a respected area of expertise, are a confident leader and reliable contributor to any team. You are decisive, a good negotiator and always act with integrity.
