Your new company

This leading UK Charity retailer are looking to take on a Maintenance Surveyor to support the southern region of their property portfolio consisting of retail units, storage facilities and offices within the South Eastern region.

Your new role

Your new role will involve carrying out defect analysis and diagnosis in shops as well as other leased or owned properties, reporting on necessary repairs / improvements and writing specifications for maintenance and dilapidations works of various sizes & costs.

You will report into the Maintenance manager and will be instructed by them to carry out actions relevant to your post. These will include ensuring method statements, risk assessments and health & safety information is provided.

You will liaise with fire officers, environmental health officers, loss adjusters and Landlord's surveyors, and provide advice to field management on building matters, including fire safety regulations.

You will based at the charity's Kingston Upon Thames office and will travel to sites based within the Southern region. This will include properties in Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, Essex & London.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in this role you will need to be a strong communicator with an understanding of carrying out repairs on a live site. You will need to be able to effectively communicate with retail managers to clarify work required, time-frames and impact to stores during projects.

Ideally you will have carried out a similar role for a high street retailer or a similar multi-site business and will be familiar with managing the maintenance of retail properties.

You will need to be able to work independently with minimum supervision, and will be used to managing your own workload in order to meet deadlines, keeping a cool head under pressure when required.

You must be a team player and be able to work well with others in order to achieve a shared goal.

What you'll get in return

In return for your commitment you will receive an annual salary of up to £48K with a £3.5K car allowance in addition to this. You will receive private health & dental care and life insurance policy on top.

The charity offer a degree of flexibility to your work day, with a day a week working from home, and core office hours between 10.00 & 16.00.

The pension on offer is an employer matched pension of up to 10%.

You will be able to work across the breadth of the country for your role, with no two days being the same, and your business mileage will be covered at the minimum government rate.
