Vacancy Details

These posts offer rare opportunities to develop an academic career in one of the world's leading schools of the built environment. They would suit experienced practitioners, seeking either to become involved in higher education alongside their existing professional roles, or to develop a new career as a full-time university lecturer.

The University of Salford's School of the Built Environment is a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence. It is home to a multidisciplinary team of academics and researchers working in collaboration with learners across diverse areas of study to deliver real improvements to the built environment sector.

The School is offering these exciting opportunities to join its enthusiastic and expanding team of building surveying academics in contributing to the further development of the discipline within the wider built environment context. Your primary focus will be on the delivery of high quality, industry-relevant teaching material, and on contributing to the School's expanding portfolio of research in the building surveying and technology fields.

With a qualification as a chartered building surveyor and substantial experience of building surveying practice you would make a key contribution to the School's practical and hands-on BSc Building Surveying programme, as well as to its other programmes including its new master's provision in building surveying. You would have access to some of the School's unique research facilities, including the remarkable Energy House, a full-sized Edwardian-style terraced house built inside a laboratory which can replicate external weather conditions to test the environmental performance of a range of building elements and components.

Potential applicants are invited to contact Dr Paul Chynoweth, Director of Property & Surveying, for an informal discussion about the role at p.chynoweth@salford.ac.uk<mailto:p.chynoweth@salford.ac.uk>.

The School is able to consider both full-time and part-time hours.

Please note this vacancy is closing at 23:59 on the date provided.

All appointments will be made on merit, and as an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.

In recognition of our commitment to create a diverse team that draws from our widest talent pool we would particularly encourage applications from groups who are currently under-represented at this level, which in this case is our female applicants.
