Barking Riverside - PR, Marketing and Events Manager - salary subject to experience

We are Barking Riverside - and we are looking for a like minded agency based professional to join us at an exciting time. You will help to build the brand and play a strategic role across the marketing of each build phase.

To lead specific marketing, PR and events for Barking Riverside development and to build the brand of the project, communicating the master plan, implementing the Communications Strategy, Marketing Strategy and amongst others the Placemaking and Cultural Strategy toenhance the reputation of the development and promote the project as an exemplary development of the highest order.

Main Accountabilities:


  • Leadership and management including customer service/ values - Lead specific projects agreeing an annual calendar of activities and targets for BRL in terms of Comms, Marketing Events and PR as set out in the BRL strategies whilst setting an example in delivering excellent customer service in line with BRL and L&Q values. Appoint, manage and supervise any potential internal and temporary staff, consultants or contractors as required in order to deliver complex and high quality events, marketing material and positive PR.


  • Strategy/ achieving objectives - Manage the PR function in line with the BRL communications strategy and place-making strategy. Develop and build upon key messages, maintaining communications momentum with press and key stakeholders including existing Barking Riverside residents. Promote and coordinate all visits to site including ensuring availability of key shareholder and BRL personal to support visits. Actively position Barking Riverside as a positive and exciting London destination. Maintain regular liaison with, L&Q and the GLA to report on key milestones within the agreed strategy, including where required presenting directly to the Board on strategy and budget. Plan, create and manage communications on all social media platforms in relation to the communications strategy and place-making strategy. Keep abreast of current trends and build relations with key Social Media Influencers. Under the guidance of the Head of Marketing and the , implement the agreed marketing strategy to promote the Barking Riverside brand on-site, locally and to the wider London market. Ensure the overall quality of collateral produced either in-house or via external agencies is in line with target market requirements. Build a database of quality leads for the promotion of the overall development and the future sale of houses and apartments within the development to support our key partners. To ensure the overall quality of event collateral produced either in-house or via external agencies is in line with target market requirements.


  • Working with others - internal - Work collaboratively with all BRL team members. Promote, manage and monitor the BRL Comms strategy to ensure the BRL team is meeting the objectives.


  • Working with others - external - Develop, maintain and influence relationships with key stakeholders and partners. Contribute to corporate stakeholder management, keeping a detailed up-to-date database of all key personnel. Development, promote and maintain comms protocol with key partners to ensure these remain on message. Where required, represent BRL on external working groups, speaking engagements, etc. and positively promote the Group. Work with the externally appointed place-making consultants and L&Q estates management [and the Community Interest Company (CIC)/other stakeholders] to implement the cultural strategy through agreed events for existing residents, the wider Barking and Greater London population and key stakeholders.


  • Budgetary responsibility - Accurately forecast and manage the allocated budget and have ownership of planning and analysis of spend reporting to Head of Marketing.


  • Compliance - Ensure H&S, regulatory & governance compliance for areas under the job holder's control.


  • Records and systems - Maintain the necessary relevant Trust records and systems. Run monthly monitoring reports and respond to ad hoc requests for information.


  • Risks - Manage risks associated with areas under the jobholder's control.
