CONSTRUCTION QUALITY AND SAFETY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Coventry, West Midlands: Darlington, North East: Manchester, North West: Sheffield, Yorkshire and the Humber
Working pattern: Flexible working, Full-time, Job share, Part-time
Responsible for delivering on a massive £23.5 billion school investment programme, DfE Capital occupies a unique position in the construction market in England. Our capital investment delivers great new schools with modern teaching environments, which make a real difference to the lives of children. Over 200 schools are involved in the programme at any one time.
We are currently creating a new Health, Safety and Quality Team, which will include a Health and Safety Manager, as well as Quality and Safety Assurance Managers (QSAM). As key members of the team you will work from home and visit sites, ensuring that we drive a positive Quality and safety agenda and make improvements as required.
Specifically, as a Quality and Safety Assurance Manager, you will take responsibility for the workmanship of our contractors, ensuring they comply with all building regulations. It’s a unique role, which requires strong inspection and analytical skills, but also the ability to communicate effectively, as you’ll be responsible for influencing and educating others.
You will provide professional quality, safety and assurance advice, guidance, training and support to the project, design and technical teams across Capital construction programmes. Facilitating compliance with the Capital design and output specification as well as relevant legal, industry and organisational standards, you will conduct robust inspection, investigation and challenge of our construction activity.
We’ll expect you to help us fulfil client CDM and Building Regulation duties, as well as helping to produce great quality school buildings that are fit for purpose, safe and cost effective to operate and maintain. You will secure assurances by making sure our external Principal Contractors, Principal Designers and others fulfil their duties.
