Long Term Temporary Electrician Role at Chelmsford Prison, with the potential of becoming Permanent

Maintenance 17th Edition Electrician
HMP Chelmsford, Chelmsford

Overview of the position:

As the leading agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit multiple qualified trades, including Maintenance Electricians with 17th Edition for Chelmsford Prison, Chelmsford.

This is a long-term temporary to permanent job. You must be local to the area, have 17th Edition.

This long-term temporary contract is based on a shift pattern, working one weekend in every three, in return there will be rest days during the week. There is opportunity on your rest days to work overtime at the prison or complete your own private works. When weekends are worked this will be paid at an overtime rate.

The rate is from £13.83 per hour Monday - Friday (including holiday pay).

Purpose of the Maintenance role:

As part of the Works Department you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance.

The Maintenance Electrician job role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally. You must be local to the prison or have your own transport.

Experience:

Chelmsford Prison is looking for qualified Electricians with maintenance experience.
You will be required to carry out varied duties such as reactive repairs & rewires along with small planned projects and maintenance.

17th Edition is essential. Time served applicants or lower level editions will not be considered.

Previous experience in a prison/ public sector is not required for this role. The nature of the role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/ department.

Security Clearance required:

All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure, this can include a DBS check.

You must hold a valid passport or birth certificate & photo driving licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
