Maintenance Painter, HMP Erlestoke, Full time, Monday to Friday, Long term temporary

HMP Erlestoke is a Adult male category C prison, with inmates serving longer term sentences.
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of security & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit an Painter to join the Works and Maintenance team.

As part of the Works Department you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance. £11.43 per hour inclusive of holiday.


Your new role
The Painter role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. You must be local to the prison or have your own transport. Basic Uniform will need to be provided by the temporary worker in most establishments, the Prison/ Contractors will supply high visibility clothing and protective head wear, along with any other specialist safety equipment if required.

As part of the Works/ Maintenance Department you will be responsible for the painting maintenance requirements throughout the prison. Main duties will include and are not limited to: Internal & external painting, Supervision of visitors, General maintenance & making good, Patrolling perimeter and grounds, Reactive & emergency repairs, Escorting contractors & vehicles, Planned Painting Projects throughout, Health & Safety Procedures, Radio handling and Tool checks.

What you'll need to succeed
Formal painting qualifications are required for this role, City & Guilds/ NVQ and CSCS. Evidence of significant and recent painting experience is essential.

All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take anywhere from 1-8 weeks. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
