A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen at a rapidly expanding planning and development practice who have forged a strong business model typified by a commitment to Sustainable Urbanism which has led to their emergence as a leading practice delivering major strategic development and regeneration schemes through the planning system.

They are looking for a Senior Planner to play a pivotal role working with a prestigious client base and assisting the Planning Director with a variety of instructions that include large scale residential led mixed use schemes, urban extensions, new towns, villages, sports stadia and educational facilities.

In addition, as a key member of the planning team you will be a central to the provision of first class technical planning advice to a diverse range of clients including major house builders, strategic estates, landowners, Universities and the Sports industry.

Key components of this post also encompass;

  • Preparation and submission and coordination of major planning applications
  • Provide first class technical planning consultancy to a variety of clients
  • Scoping and appointment of professional teams Contribute to development appraisals and strategic site promotion.
  • Drafting written policy representations and producing planning statements.
  • Participation in Design Workshops Build robust relationships with local authority planning officers to negotiate and finalise the discharge conditions coupled with reserved matters.
  • Assist with complex appeals, researching site histories and assisting with comprehensive stake holder and community consultation exercises.
  • Develop client-facing skills including regular reporting. Contribute/lead team training events.
  • Manage project budgets and invoicing Support with Business Development skills

If you have a natural enthusiasm and interest in dealing with large scale major development projects and complex planning issues that incorporate the highest design principles, then, this opportunity is certainly worth exploring!

Successful candidates will have degree in Town & Country Planning or affiliated subject, preferably with a minimum of three to seven years post qualification planning experience in planning consultancy, public sector or client side at a developer.

The successful candidate must be a member of the RTPI and will have acquired practical experience assisting with or project managing large scale major development projects through the planning system.

Finally, you will have good written and verbal communication skills with a natural drive and enthusiasm for Town Planning.
