Experienced Environmental Health Officer specialising in Food Safety required in Central London

Your new company
This Central London based public sector organisation is currently looking to recruit an experienced Environmental Health Officer, specialising in Food Safety to join their Environmental Health and Food Safety Team.

The team are responsible for contributing to raising the standards of Food Safety, Health & Safety and increased Infectious Disease Control within the borough.

Your new role
As a Food Safety Officer you will have delegated authority and will use specialist skills and techniques ( i.e. audit, inspection, enforcement powers, negotiation and persuasion) to carry out a programme of proactive and reactive functions which will contribute to raising standards of food safety, health & safety and increased Infectious Disease Control in all types of commercial activity within the borough.

Additional Responsibilities include:
* Undertake programmed and complaint audits, inspections, surveys and investigations under all the relevant Food Safety Legislation, including visiting sites alone taking necessary action, such visits will involve attending locations and encountering situations which may involve personal risk.
* Initiate and carry out enforcement and legal process functions in residential and all types of commercial premises (from multinational to small businesses), including the prosecution, seizure or detention of goods, issuing of notices, application for and execution of warrants necessitating the forced entry to premises
* Provide specialist technical advice and guidance to all service users including residents, consumers, traders and businesses on Food Safety matters.
* To ensure that all duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Council's Policies and Procedures including Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Personnel Policies and Procedures, Health & Safety Policy etc.


What you'll need to succeed
To be the successful candidate you will need to be an experienced Food Safety Officer with comprehensive food safety knowledge with a Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection registered with EHRB or equivalent.
Ability and confidence to prepare, write and present reports to Councillors
Self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
Willingness to work outside of contracted hours in the evenings and weekends subject to notice.
