Development Manager

Since 2008 we’ve enjoyed incredible success to become the UK’s leading gym chain. Already operating more than 230 gyms across the country, that number will grow rapidly over the next few years. All of our teams and our amazing people will play a vital role in that growth, none more so than our Property Development team. With a significant portion of our future growth expected to come through opening new locations, all eyes will be on the team to deliver!

And to ensure that delivery, we need to grow the team quickly.

In particular at the moment, we are looking to recruit two Development Managers, based out of London.

Taking a leading role in a new, regional scrum alongside an Architect, a Quantity Surveyor and a Design Manager, the Development Manager will be fully accountable for the end-to-end delivery of all gym developments in the team’s region, from the initial, high-level feasibility of sites prior to acquisition, through to the point the gym can be completely handed over to the Operations team.

Ensuring the approval of, and then tracking, all budgets and capex investments; providing appropriate technical evaluation of sites; ensuring all approvals and consents are in place through effectively liaising with landlords and local authorities; optimising the value of each site through the utilisation of procurement outcomes; ensuring specialist technical input such as mechanical, electrical and acoustics is incorporated; ensuring all health and safety requirements are being adhered to; and of course ultimately ensuring each site is delivered on time, to cost and quality – all of these aspects and more will form the key responsibilities of the role.

On offer is an opportunity to be part of a new regional team where genuine, significant growth is on the table. The role will provide plenty of opportunities to shape how the new Development structure delivers, and will allow for plenty of input in to the future look, feel and member experience of PureGym. Not to mention managing some brilliant development projects.

If you can demonstrate excellent project management skills, and come with experience of delivering multiple projects simultaneously, from start to finish, then we’ll more than likely be interested in having a conversation with you. Alongside your technical skills and experience, we’ll be excited to see your leadership and motivational abilities, as well as your passion for our industry. Ideally your background will include working in or with customer facing industries such as leisure, retail, hospitality or retail banking.
