Overview of the position:
As the leading agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit multiple qualified trades, including a Qualified (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2) Maintenance Plumber for Littlehey Prison, Huntingdon.

This is a long-term temporary job starting ASAP, with the opportunity to apply for permanent positions.

You must be local to the area, have City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2.

This long-term temporary contract is based on Monday to Friday 39 hours per week. There could be a rota involved working 1 weekend in every 3 but you will be paid at a higher rate for weekends and bank holidays.

The rate is from £13.39 per hour however a higher rate can be agreed based on experience.

Experience:
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing. Time served applicants or lower level editions will not be considered.

The prison is looking for a qualified multi-skilled Plumber, ideally with maintenance experience working with PPM systems and Work dockets systems.

You will be required to carry out varied duties such as reactive repairs & small planned projects and maintenance.

Previous experience in a prison/ public sector is not required for this role.

The nature of the role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/ department.

Purpose of the Maintenance role:
As part of the Works Department you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance.

Security Clearance required:
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure, this can include a DBS check. You must hold an in date passport or birth certificate & photo driving licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
