Plumber required to join team in HMP Channings Wood. Mon - Fri 37.5 hours No tools Required Training Provided

Overview of the position:

As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit multiple qualified trades, including a Qualified (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2) Maintenance Plumber for HMP Channings Wood Prison.

This is an ongoing contract starting ASAP. This is likely to be extended further, with the opportunity to apply for permanent position. You must be local to the area, have City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2. Welding experience or qualifications would be an asset.

This Long-term Temporary Contract that will term Permanent for the right candidate. This is based on Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

Experience:

City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing.
The prison is looking for a qualified multi-skilled Plumber/ fitter, ideally with maintenance experience working with PPM systems and Work dockets systems.

You will be required to carry out varied duties such as reactive repairs & small planned projects and maintenance. Previous experience in a prison/ public sector is not required for this role. The nature of the role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/ department.

Purpose of the Maintenance role:

As part of the Works Department you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance. Devon Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons, which serve all the courts in the South West. They pride themselves in engaging and involving employees working alongside them in the process of change.

The Maintenance role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally. You must be local to the prison or have your own transport.

Security Clearance required:

All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 6 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
