DIRECTOR, BUILDING SAFETY REFORM

(Permanent London based role).

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s (MHCLG) job is to create great places to live and work, and to give more power to local people to shape what happens in their area. MHCLG is at the heart of the Prime Minister’s objective of making the UK a country that works for everyone.

The work of the team includes delivering key elements of the Government’s Building Safety Programme, where Government has committed to ensuring that nothing like the Grenfell Tower tragedy can happen again - responding to the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, led by Dame Judith Hackitt. This will require major new policy development, and implementation, to improve the regulatory regime and wider system and ensure residents feel safe.

This is a really exciting policy and delivery role with big programme responsibilities, including the implementation of a new regulatory framework and the creation of a new regulator.  This is a role managing complex programmes to tight timescales and with political interest.

This role is ideal for someone who is capable of leading large policy teams to develop and deliver policies to enable wider system change on building safety, working closely with external, government and business partners.

This is a high profile and demanding Director role, which requires an ability to manage complex problems to tight timescales in a political environment and enable your teams to enact wider system reform and ensure it is fit for purpose. You will have strong policy and analytical skills, including experience of leading large programmes in a policy context.

If you want to take on this challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.

This is a permanent appointment based in central London.  This is a full-time role, but the Department welcomes applications from people wishing to work flexibly, including those willing to job share.

A basic salary of circa £100,000 is on offer.  For further information about the role and details of how to apply, please download the candidate pack at https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/login.cgi, reference number 1620468.   If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact the recruitment team on 0303 444 8111.

Applications should be received by 23:59 on Sunday 3rd March.
