Construction Buyer -Material & Subcontract (Rail/Civil) £45,000 (London)


Our client is a leading UK contractor, with a number of major projects underway, and a new £50M Rail Station upgrade project in London. You will be responsible for the Station upgrade/Civils project; subcontract and materials purchase. Initially focused on 3 Stations the role will develop to cover other projects in London over time. Reporting to the procurement lead. You will lead project procurement, sourcing relevant subcontract packages, materials and services, to meet the needs of the project.
Your will:

• Ensure all contractors/ goods/service providers have been subject to the prequalification process and all suppliers are approved before use.
• Ordering of materials.
• Sub Contract Buying.
• Identify potential suppliers and expand tender lists and supplier/trade contractor selection lists.
• Analyse quotations received.
• Liaising with the commercial team on cost of materials, lead time of materials.
• Working with your colleagues on site/projects with regards to timing of deliveries, and lead time of materials.
• Support and develop the procurement procedures for the package scope, quantification, tender method, negotiation and subcontract documentation.
• Ensure material and plant requisitions are processes in a timely and professional manner.

You will have:

• Experience of procurement management on significant UK Rails & Civil projects.
• Relevant qualifications.
• Experience with subcontract buying.
• Product knowledge of materials & plant along with UK suppliers, market prices and trends
