Health & Safety Advisor

A 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (minimum) to join a specialist marine business on a project in Portsmouth.

Your new company

My client are a fully-integrated specialist marine civil engineering business. They offer services for all types of marine infrastructure working throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. Their delivery of work aligns into the following key markets;

• Ports and Harbours
• Renewable Energy/Subsea Cables
• Water

The company are family owned with independent structure that allows them the freedom to deliver challenging, exciting work in the marine environment utilising their specialist marine skilled workforce and their owned/operated marine vessels and plant equipment.

Your new role

This is a great opportunity to work on a marine cable project across 2 sites in the Portsmouth area (approx 5 miles apart). You will report to the Project Manager and be the 'competent person' for Health and Safety for both sites.

This role will be a minimum of 6 months, potentially 8-9 months depending on the progress of the project.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will be local to the Portsmouth area, with experience in a marine and/or construction/civil engineering environment. You must have a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate as a minimum, but a Health and Safety Diploma or equivalent will be an advantage.

You will be required to travel between the 2 local sites, so a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a market-led, pro-rata'd salary between £17,500-£20,000 for 6 months (based on £35,000-£40,000/annum). Holiday is 22 days + BH's (again pro-rata'd to 11 / 6m's). Site vehicles are provided for travel between sites during your working day.
