Handyman required for HMP Risley, based in Warrington - Long term opportunity
Your new company
A facilities management company are looking to recruit for an Handyman working within HMP Risley based in Warrington. This company ensure that all Maintenance within the Prison is completed and kept at a high standard in the correct time frame and at all times.
Your new role
As part of the Works Department, you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance. Currently the Prison has several refurbishment and general day-to-day maintenance projects underway. This prison require a general handy-person who can complete general tasks such as assisting other trades, putting up signage, general basic painting and carpentry duties, using drills and hand tools and fire alarm/ emergency lighting checks.
The Maintenance role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally. You must be local to the prison or have your own transport.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role, qualifications aren't essential however, are beneficial if you do hold them. If you don't hold any relevant qualifications, you will need to provide evidence of your experience through your CV or ex-employer references.
You do not require any previous experience or qualifications for this role. You just need to be security conscious, able to challenge potential compromises and risk, and be reliable. To be successful for this role, you will need to pass a DBS clearance security clearance (organised by Hays) and also Prison clearance.
To apply for the DBS, you must hold a valid passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address, proof of National Insurance and proof of address dated in the past 3 months.
All applicants must be able to provide details of at least 2 satisfactory references, one from an ex-employer.
What you'll get in return
You will be paid weekly, every Friday will receive all relevant training for this role such as an induction week and key training. If you are a qualified tradesman, the hourly rate will be £15.29 and if you hold experience however, don't have qualifications, the hourly rate will be £13.04.
This role is Monday - Friday, 39 hours per week and you will have access to free onsite parking.
