Project Building Surveyor (Education Projects)

Your new role

In your new role you will be responsible for supporting the office's Senior Associate Building Surveyor and Senior Building Surveyor Manager, taking instructions from them and carrying out the relevant surveying work to the required standards.

Daily responsibilities will include carrying out building inspections and surveys of properties, specifying work required and providing input on design where required. You will be responsible for administering contracts and will manage minor works projects, and provide assistance on major technical projects as well.

Your role will also encompass other professional building surveying services such providing advice on party wall matters, inspecting and reporting on building defects, carrying out full structural and conditions surveys.

Your travel will be fairly limited, focusing only on the South West London, Surrey and Middlesex areas, focusing on local authority and housing association clients.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in this role you will need to be able to work independently, with the ability to carry out the majority of the above responsibilities (you will receive on the job support on areas certain areas if required).

You will need a solid foundation in Building Surveying, having completed a degree or post grad diploma in Building Surveying or Building Studies preferably, with a minimum of 2 years professional practice to support this.

The ideal candidate will be RICS or CIOB qualified or close to becoming qualified. A background in a consultancy role would be a positive, though not essential.

Successful applicants will be excellent verbal and written communicators, and will be able to present themselves professionally and credibly to clients and key stakeholders.

Your success will rely predominantly on your attitude and work ethic, as the role will be demanding and rewarding in equal measures. The right candidate will be motivated by getting the job done to the highest standard, within set time constraints, whilst ensuring the clients' expectations are met.

You will have a great team mentality and be prepared to support your colleagues as they will support you.
