Principal Planner- Highways Maintenance and Operations
Long-term assignment working on one of the largest Highways contracts in Europe.

Your new role
You'll be providing expertise for Traffic and Contingency Planning, lead a technical team of about 12 people, delivering Urban Traffic Management and Control, highways event planning, winter maintenance management and contingency arrangement planning.
You will be required to comply with HSEA compliance and other legislative requirements. You will be asked to track progress, forecast expenditure and delivery dates, as well as incorporate changes and ensure high standards of delivery.
You will be coordinating all Traffic and Contingency Planning services for BHMMS and developing plans for continual improvement of Birmingham's Urban Traffic Control Centre.
You will be accountable for monitoring, reporting and developing all relevant programmes.
What you'll need to succeed
An ideal candidate will have working knowledge of latest techniques for traffic management, excellent communication skills with ability to manage stakeholders at all levels and will be highly organised with great attention to detail. The client is looking for a candidate with great project management knowledge as well as demonstrated people management experience.
Advance use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel will be required. Training in Health and Safety Management, (ideally IOSH or equivalent) is desirable but not necessary.
