Senior Building Surveyor
Your new role
You will join a dedicated Schools team, consisting of 15 Building Surveyors, supporting more junior staff, whilst benefiting from the support of a Senior Partner, Associate, and Principle Surveyor where needed.
You will manage building projects from inception to completion, leading a design team, in order to translate the client brief over to a complete design package.
You will provide guidance and management on the feasibility of the project, carry out initial Building Inspections, produce specifications and schedules, and take projects to tender on larger £multi-million schemes.
You will be responsible for contract administration and will be involved in regular progress meetings. You will be client facing and the first point of contact for them, ensuring they are kept informed and up to date at all times.
What you'll need to succeed
Although you won;t need an RICS or CIOB membership, you will need a background in Building Surveying and a relevant degree in Building Surveying, Building Studies or Equivalent.
Previous experience in Construction Design Management is essential as you will be heavily involved in this area of each project. You will need an excellent level of communication, and must be able to take a professional and personable approach towards your work, as your clients will be nearly exclusively local council, university, or diocese employees as opposed to construction professionals.
Excellent knowledge of planning and building regulations will be required for this role, with some extension or new-build projects prone to presenting obstacles. Therefore a pragmatic approach to each project will be needed.
What you'll get in return
You will get the opportunity to work with, a dedicated team of Surveyors, which presents the opportunity to manage junior members, and learn from senior colleagues within the business.
You will benefit from a huge variety of different buildings, from 18th Century School Buildings in London's West End, to brand new structures.
All business travel will be a manageable distance, with clients and projects generally based within an hour's drive from the office.
Working for this business presents a change of scenery, with the office based in the Surrey Suburbs of Weybridge.
This role comes with a competitive package bench-marked at £45-50K, plus bonuses based on fees targets.
