Your new company
One of the largest Local Authorities in Europe, Birmingham City Council is seeking a number of Planning Officers to assist in the provision of efficient and effective Planning Management Service.
It is an exciting time to work in Birmingham, with the hosting of the Commonwealth Games in 2022 as well as new and unique residential and commercial developments being built in the City.
You will be responsible for supporting the City Council's overall strategic themes to provide a better environment for the residents of Birmingham.
These contracts are provided on a temporary contract basis for a minimum of 6 months.
Your new role
You will be responsible for ensuring that Planning Applications are dealt within a professional and timely manner in line with agreed polices and procedures. You will be undertaking site visits and ensuring that appropriate internal and external consultation is undertaken.
What you'll need to succeed
In these roles it is essential you are able to handle a case load of planning applications and can provide evidence of your experience carrying out these duties.
You will also need to have experience handling appeals and have very strong report writing skills. Its ideal to have a degree in Planning or related discipline but not essential if you have proven experience in a similar town planning role. You are encouraged to apply even if you are not a member of the RTPI although this membership is desirable.
