Quantity Surveyor

Main purpose of role:
To ensure all tasks are carried out with efficiency and accuracy - providing support to the Department responsible for contract and financial administration.

Achieving targets within cost and in technically challenging environments.

Job overview:
Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with the Company's HSE procedures and as instructed. Continually monitor projected costs in line with budget.
Monitor projects cash flow and valuation plans, ensuring applications are made correctly by the dates specified. Ensure contract variations are identified, valued and agreed.

In order to be considered for this role, it is essential that you:-
Hold a valid CSCS Card
Have experience in Quantity Surveying Have a sound working knowledge of construction and contract law coupled with variations forms of Conditions of Contract
Have detailed knowledge and understanding of the tendering and procurement process.

Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will work closely with the following key people:-
Managing Director
Finance Director / Head of Accounts
Contracts Manager
Project Co-ordinators
Clients & Suppliers
Other Specialist Consultants

Main tasks of job:
To work with the FD and Head of Accounts, closely monitoring the progress of the jobs.
Highlight areas of concern within the job.
Attend weekly meeting with the Accounts Department.
Pre-contract tender meetings.
Tender review at point of order.
Value engineering.
Contract and programme review / contract negotiation.
Cost planning of hard and soft landscaping projects.
Procurement advice and review.
Monitoring budget and cost control & programme.
Management of all variations / quotations for additional works.
Preparation of monthly valuations including all variations (referenced and numbered).

  • Valuations must be revised monthly according to client assessment to enable accurate tracking.
  • Site visits to meet with the Contracts Manager to value progress and quantifying actual areas.
  • Issue of all Valuations to Clients as per schedule.
  • Dispute resolution
  • Interim payment assessment

You will preferably have working knowledge of the following software:-
Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Publisher
