Head of Minor Capital Programmes

The Capital Programmes Division is looking for an experienced professional, with proven construction experience to join a dynamic service within the Council delivering a variety of projects and programmes on behalf of the Council to contribute to the ongoing growth, delivery and development of the City Strategy.

The Capital Programme Division reports to the City Treasurer and is responsible for developing and delivering Major and Minor Capital Programmes across the City. The current value of the programme is £130m pa. 

The construction projects undertaken by the service are diverse and for example include works relating to the maintenance of schools, art galleries, parks, listed buildings, leisure complexes, outdoor Christmas markets, community resource centres and the public realm.

We require a suitably qualified and experienced construction management professional to strategically lead, direct and manage the Minor Capital Programmes group function working a cross a diverse portfolio of works.  This is a senior management and leadership role and will involve overseeing the commercial, surveying and M&E functions with the group and ensuring that the necessary governance arrangements are in place whilst providing a link to the construction projects clients.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable operational experience in a multi-disciplinary professional services environment co-ordinating and delivering a variety of construction projects on time, budget and required quality

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate experience of leading teams, pre-contract, post contract and cost planning within a construction environment with demonstrable knowledge of working with both JCT and NEC contract and contract administration.
