To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit an experienced Team Leader for the Buildings Maintenance team. 

Your New Role 
To lead and manage a team of 12 building discipline trade staff and contractors necessary for the relevant maintenance and minor building projects within the University’s estate, ensuring quality services are delivered in compliance with legislative requirements, relevant service specifications and key performance indicators.

To ensure the team maintains its focus on delivering key University objectives and adopts a proactive, customer focused approach in the delivery of services which support high quality environments for students, staff and other stakeholders. A key requirement will be the ability to develop the in-house team and deliver a strong sense of leadership, ensuring the University delivers the very best service levels and a strong engagement to cultural and behavioural change. 

The role holder will be required to travel between university sites (Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury) on occasions, however the position will predominantly be based at the Stoke campus.

Experience Required 
You will be educated to HNC or equivalent in a building specialism / maintenance related discipline and have extensive knowledge of several key specialist areas across a number of functions including; building maintenance, mechanical engineering, plumbing, electrical services and decoration. You will have demonstrable experience of managing and delivering complex building or maintenance projects on time and to budget, including service performance management of both in-house maintenance teams and external contractors. Finally, you will have evidence of Health and Safety training such as BOHS P405, with experience of planning and managing on-site health and safety, and the management of asbestos in buildings.

About You 
You will have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to set priorities for a team to ensure operational objectives are met where there are competing deadlines and excellent interpersonal, influencing, team building and communication skills. You will have proven experience of working flexibly to address out of hours reactive maintenance and a willingness to undertake further specialist training as required to act as ‘Authorised or Competent person.'
