Senior Projects Officer

As part of the drive to deliver Brunel University London’s 2030 strategic vision, the Directorate of Estates is working on an exciting capital programme which includes a new Learning and Teaching Centre. There is also an ongoing programme of works to keep its buildings, many dating back to the 1960’s, updated and adapted for the evolving demands of the university’s research intensive learning and teaching activities. The Directorate of Estates are seeking to appoint an experienced project professional to join the in-house project team to assist with these initiatives.

The Senior Project Officer will report into the Deputy Director of Estates (Projects) and will provide project management and contract administration for alterations, refurbishments, long term maintenance and new build works from inception through their life cycle to completion and occupation. The post holder will engage with consultants and contractors to ensure all work is carried out efficiently, to the required quality standard, on time, within budget constraints and in accordance with relevant legal and statutory requirements.

This is a key position and the post holder will be required to lead on strategic change initiatives, producing business cases, feasibility studies and options appraisals; analysing and presenting both quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision making.

You should possess a degree in Architecture, Building Services Engineering, Project Management or Building Surveying and preferably be a chartered member of RIBA, RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional body in the construction industry. A relevant postgraduate or project management qualification would be advantageous as would be prior experience of working in Higher Education or for an organisation with a large property portfolio.
