Head of Estates - NHS

Your new company
On behalf of our client, an NHS Trust in London, Hays Property & Surveying are currently recruiting for an Interim Head of Estates to take on a three to six month contract while a permanent post holder is hired.

Your new role
To lead in the management of the planned preventative maintenance programme, day-to-day maintenance, decontamination, fire safety, piped medical gases, low voltage electrical supplies, asbestos management, legionella/water quality and other non-clinical risks to ensure that effective action is taken at the right time resulting in compliance with Directorate objectives, based on professional and technical excellence.
To ensure the Trust is compliant with its statutory estates requirements for all operational assets in line with best practice, manufacturer's instructions, Health & Safety (including signing-in/permits to work systems), Approved Codes of Practice and Health Technical Memoranda, giving priority to high risk areas including ITU, theatres, and NICU/SCBU.
To be responsible for ensuring the effective financial and operational performance of estates services whether from directly delivered, outsourced or other suppliers, covering all Trust sites and ensuring that this meets service needs and provides value for money.
To keep the Estates risk register up-to-date and asset register under constant review, identify backlog maintenance and critical infrastructure and provide advice on the potential impact of forthcoming legislative and mandatory changes.

What you'll need to succeed

• A relevant professional qualification (MRICS, MCIOB, MCIBSE)
• Understanding of an NHS environment and statutory legislation
• Working knowledge of HBN's and HTM's, building control standards and CDM regulations.
