Do you want to be part of the Renewal and Restoration of a world heritage site? Then this is the opportunity to join the House of Commons Northern Estate Programme (NEP) team.  Operating on a working World Heritage site that attracts visitors from all over the globe, our Strategic Estates team looks after and improves the buildings of Parliament and provides services to the House of Lords. It is currently undergoing significant work to protect and preserve its heritage with a ‘Restoration and Renewal Programme’ which will ensure its future at the home to the UK parliament into the 21^st century.

It’s a challenging stakeholder environment where conservation and the need to innovate for the future coincide. The Northern Estate Programme team manage the refurbishment of a number of significant buildings and redevelop others to provide decant accommodation for staff whilst the Palace of Westminster is undergoing work. The Programme’s fast-moving and demands someone who can make a positive impact very quickly.

As part of the Strategic Estates team, you will lead on the design work and programme implementation for specific building refurbishments including coordinating the requirements of a range of stakeholders. This includes overseeing oversee the development and approval of the NEP Masterplan including building designs for all refurbishment projects, together with providing design expertise on commissioning work packages and task activities to third party / external building consultants. This role is not for the faint hearted and you will have had experience in similar project overseeing both Mechanical and Electrical and Architectural installations.

You will work with Design Managers, project and programme managers to ensure you are effectively representing the client in the development of design drawings and technical specifications for the refurbishment of a number of buildings within the Parliamentary Estate.

It is a varied role and demands a strong leader and communicator to manage a challenging stakeholder base, lead teams effectively and influence at a senior level.

We are offering this role on a fixed term basis for an initial period of 18 months. In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package include the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year.
