Chartered Building Surveyor to Join Established Building Consultancy, Surrey, £50-55K + car allowance & benefits
Your new company
Your new company is an established Practice with over 150 years of trading history, bringing together a wide range of expertise in surveying, valuation and property management, all under one roof.
This firm offers clients a complete range of surveying, valuation and related services in the residential, commercial and retail sectors, and has built a reputation for offering clients a reliable and flexible service.
The practice has offices opening in the UK's main commercial hubs, with a client base ranging from multi-national institutions, through to small businesses and private individuals.
The company obtains a considerable amount of business through personal recommendation through a strong network of loyal clients.
Your new role
The focus of your new role will be to support the Partner Building Surveyor in order to increase profitability and enhance turnover for the business, through the provision of billable services.
This objective will be managed through the use of your skills and experience as a building surveyor, with day to day responsibilities as follows:
- Carrying out and producing condition surveys, schedules of dilapidations, measured surveys & CAD drawings, and Building Surveys
- Preparing Specification and Tender documentation, acting as contract administrator and principle designer under CDM regulations, as well as project manager.
- Preparing and submitting Applications for consent to Local Authority Planning and Building Control departments, Fire Officers, Licensing, Justices, Freeholders etc. as applicable
- You will also be responsible for providing expertise in the following areas:
- Party Wall matters, Cost estimate advice, Expert Witness and Advocate
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have an in depth and up to date knowledge of Building Surveying, with current or recent practical experience to back this up.
You will need to possess a high level of communication, both verbally and in writing, and will be an effective business developer with the ability to interact professionally and credibly with both clients and colleagues alike.
You will need to be able to work independently with little to no guidance, possessing the ability to take initiative and self-motivate.
In order to be successful in your application you will need to be a full member of the RICS, due to client agreements and compliance.
You will also need a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a RICS accredited Building Surveying, and a minimum of two years' post qualification experience as a Building Surveyor.
A valid UK driver's license is crucial for this role as you will need to travel by car to site visits and to meet clients.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a highly competitive salary of £50-55K per annum, this will be dependent on relevant experience and knowledge.
You will also receive a competitive car allowance, with your business mileage covered at the government standard rate.
You will receive 23 days' annual leave (3 day to be taken over Christmas) with bank holidays in addition. This will increase to 25 days after your first year.
Benefits also include - Death in Service at 2½ times salary, professional subscriptions paid for, and CPD training costs covered.
Your working hours will be Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00 (however, in order to meet business requirements, you may be asked to work outside of these hours).
