Building Surveyor/ Asset Planner

£35,210 - £42,036 pa

This role has arisen due to the University seeking to invest in to the Team to ensure that the department are able to put the Student First by creating an estates provision which is and will work in partnership with the academic faculties and other partners to support outstanding learning opportunities. 

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced professional who would be responsible for:- 

Contributing to the Building Information Modelling (BIM) data and assist the Asset Manager in managing the Asset Register. To assist in the development and management of the Long Term Maintenance Plan with the Asset Manager together with any associated projects which may arise from this including any ad-hoc requests for projects.  Be responsible for supervising contract staff and direct labour as and when required. To provide in depth technical building pathology and building surveying providing guidance to the Asset Manager. Undertake complex technical inspections as required, provide appropriate technical solutions and manage any works arising through to completion. To oversee a range of maintenance activities for the upkeep of buildings and facilities. Resolve problems as they arise whether directly or by assembling teams to solve those issues. The university’s Estates Management Department oversees 3 main sites; at City Wolverhampton (split by a ring road), Telford (20 miles from City) and Walsall (10 miles from City). We have a total of 84 buildings including 1400 student bed spaces; the overall GIA for the estate is 177,000m2 with a total site area of 38 hectares.  You will work across the university estate. 

You will have a solid understanding of your specific specialism and be well-versed in all maintenance process and health and safety regulations. 

You will also have aptitude in undertaking project management, administrative tasks, such as reporting, and have experience in budgeting etc.  The ability to forecast and manage programmes, manage budgets effectively, always being cost and customer conscious. 

You will be expected to meet the essential attributes within the person specification and will be expected to work in collaboration with other University Estates & Facilities staff to deliver the estates strategy and the capital investment being undertaken by the University and complete the annual maintenance programme.
