A 6 Month FTC for a Health & Safety Advisor to join a successful wildlife charity, based in Sidmouth (Dorset).
Your new company
My client were founded in the late 1960's and have made a profound difference to the lives of the animals in their care and to people all over the world.
The business are nearing the end of their 5 year plan, having successfully met their key objectives. However, their work is far from done. They are planning for the next 5 years to 2023, to take their work to the next level, both on home ground in our farms and sanctuaries and through our global programmes of work. The company vision is for a world where their animals live free from suffering and their contribution to humanity is fully valued.
Your new role
As Interim Health and Safety Advisor, you will report to the Head of Estates and Facilities and work closely with a permanent Health and Safety Advisor and Administrator. This is a mobile role so a Full UK Driving Licence is essential (50% office/50% site), with 4 locations in close proximity to the base site in Sidmouth. The 5 sites include visitor attractions, working farms, offices and a restaurant.
There is the potential for this position to become permanent, but I suggest approaching the opportunity as a 6 month role. The company would prefer an immediate start, so the ideal candidate will be between jobs or run their own Health and Safety consultancy.
Key responsibilities include: Provision of Health & Safety advice and guidance for the company, attend quarterly Health & Safety Committee meetings/monthly Fire Safety Group meetings. You will also contribute towards the development of Health & Safety guidance documentation including Policy, Strategy, Procedures and Safe Systems of Work, etc.
What you'll need to succeed
You must hold a NEBOSH General Certificate and be working towards a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (NCRQ/Grad IOSH/NVQ5), with a good knowledge of reporting, investigating, audits and training. My client are flexible on industry background, but you will need a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar Health and Safety role.
What you'll get in return
A great opportunity to join a family-run business with a friendly team for a minimum of 6 months.
You will receive a pro rata'd salary between £15,000-£17,500 (£30,000-£35,000/annum), 23 days + BH's, sick pay (after 3 months), pension matched to 7.5% and free parking.
