Project Managers x2

Enjoy a role at the heart of change

This is an exciting time for the London Borough of Redbridge; we are at the heart of regeneration and change in East London, with unprecedented investment in the area expected in the next few years.  Four new Cross Rail stations being built in the Borough, along with a GLA Housing Zone designation in Ilford will open up extensive opportunities for new homes and jobs. We benefit from excellent transport links across London and Essex and our offices, based in Ilford, are only 9 minutes from Stratford and 18 minutes from Liverpool Street, in the heart of the city.

As a Project Manager you will be charged with managing these changes in Redbridge, challenging and influencing project delivery. Working for us you will have the opportunity to make a real difference for our residents, facilitating growth through the building of new homes and education facilities, regenerating the town centre, reducing inequality and offering value for money.

Reporting directly to the Head of Capital, you will support the development and delivery of the Council’s regeneration programme including delivering housing through the Council’s wholly owned Development Company.

Being responsible for leading and managing the delivery of schemes up to a value of c£5m as well as supporting broader complex projects valued at c.£120m within the Council’s Housing and Education capital programmes you will have a real opportunity to influence transformation.

For this reason, the roles require professionals who can take ownership, have the right communication skills to influence change as well as the commercial acumen to inspire confidence in managing budgets. Alongside a PRINCE2 Project management Qualification you will be able to demonstrate an exceptional record of managing a diverse range of capital projects and of supervising and managing professional teams in a project environment.

Ideally, with experience of working within local government, you will have an understanding of the political, commercial and economic context within which the Council’s asset management activity is undertaken. Knowledge of financial, legal (i.e. contractual) statutory and planning processes/regulations in relation to capital project management in England and the ability to adequately manage financial information, ensuring financial compliance, monitoring and evaluation is crucial.

Attendance at meetings outside of normal office hours, including weekends may be required. The ability to drive and the use of a vehicle for work to travel to different locations around the Borough would be of advantage.
